The Book of Mormon has been a treasured companion for President Ezra Taft Benson throughout his life. The statement on the cover, given in conference Oct. 5, 1986, shows the importance he places on this book of scripture. The prophet has been particularly strong in his challenge to members to read and study the Book of Mormon, the course of study in the Church for 1988. In an interview Dec. 18, President Benson said he has appreciated and read the Book of Mormon since the days of his youth. In the interview, he counseled Latter-day Saint families to "sup daily from the pages of the Book of Mormon." See page 3.
