Division of the Orem Utah Timpview Stake resulted in the creation of the new Orem Utah Aspen Stake Jan. 10.

Elder Neal A. Maxwell of the Council of the Twelve officiated in the creation of the new stake, one of 10 in the Orem Utah Region. There are two regions in Orem, comprising 17 stakes.In addition, presidencies in three stakes were reorganized.

OREM UTAH ASPEN STAKE: (Jan. 10, 1988) Created by division of the Orem Utah Timpview Stake. President - Ross S. Wolfley, 36, director of computer software marketing company, former bishop and counselor. Counselors - Norman Leon Lyde, 43, junior high school teacher, former high councilor, stake Sunday School president, ward executive secretary, and elders quorum president; Timothy McBeth Law, 37, manager of record extraction and volunteer data entry programs in Church Family History Department, former bishop, ward financial clerk, assistant ward executive secretary, and Sunday School president's counselor.

OGDEN UTAH CANYON VIEW STAKE: (Jan. 10, 1988) President - Dorman H. Baird, 64, retired branch chief in base supply at U.S. Army's Defense Depot Ogden, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and counselor. Counselors - James Ernest Bowcut, 46, assistant high school principal, former high councilor, stake Sunday School president, bishop and counselor; James E. Smith, 37, bank vice president and manager, former high councilor, stake Young Men president, stake mission president, and bishop.

OREM UTAH TIMPVIEW STAKE: (Jan. 10, 1988) President - Lane D. Ward, 39, general manager of consulting company, former high councilor, stake Young Men president, bishop, and ward Sunday School president. Counselors - Guy R. Burningham, 43, division chief in Utah County Attorney's office, former bishop, Scoutmaster, and high priests group leader; Jesse Merrell Hansen, 48, director of secondary education in Provo School District, former high councilor, bishop, Missionary Training Center, branch president, and Sunday School gospel doctrine teacher.

PHOENIX ARIZONA WEST STAKE: (Jan. 10, 1988) President - Vester Clark Stinnett, 58, assistant manager of product control for cabinet manufacturer, former high councilor, stake YMMIA superintendent, bishop and counselor. Counselors - James Robert Fleming, 57, high school business education teacher, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and counselor; James Robert Turley Jr., 45, general manager of insulation company, former high councilor, bishop and counselor, and ward Young Men president.
