City officials say culinary water rates for city residents will be going up, but the amount of increase will be the subject of discussion at the City Council's Oct. 18 meeting.
City Administrator Richard Warne said he is reviewing the rates and will have a recommendation for the council at that meeting. City residents pay $12 for the first 8,000 gallons used and 55-cents for each additional 1,000 used each month.Warne said the city can no longer afford to absorb the rate increases charged by the Salt Lake Water Conservancy District, the city's main culinary water supplier.
The rate increase will be the first for city residents in five years, said Warne.
