Atlanta Falcons cornerback David Croudip died early Monday of a heart attack at his home in an Atlanta suburb.

Falcons spokesman Charley Taylor says Croudip's wife called for an ambulance at 2 a.m. He arrived at the Joan Glancy Hospital in Duluth, Georgia at 2:30 a.m.Croudip, who played Sunday in the Falcons' 33-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, was pronounced dead at 3:31 a.m.

"We are deeply saddened to learn about the death of David Croupid," said Atlanta Coach Marion Campbell. "We send all of our heartfelt sympathies to his family. David was a friend to all of his teammates. His death is a shock to entire organization."

Croudip, 29, was a fifth-year player from San Diego State.
