Troops have shot and killed 10 more people in the capital and a central Burmese town, state radio said Tuesday.
The slayings brought to about 450 the official death toll in the last three weeks of military rule.Radio Rangoon also said two more political parties had registered, bringing to 12 the number of parties formed since military commander Gen. Saw Maung seized power Sept. 18. Saw Maung has promised to hold a general election soon, but has not set a date.

After the coup, soldiers fired on street protesters, and later on people described as looters and other "destructive elements." Western diplomats believed the actual death toll is much higher.
