A Provo man charged with four felony counts of rape and sexual abuse was bound over Tuesday for arraignment in 4th District Court on Oct. 21.
Vern Sanford, 65, appeared before 4th Circuit Judge John Backlund in a preliminary hearing. He is charged with raping and sexually abusing two girls, 8 and 11 years old.The man was arrested Aug. 29 by Provo police and released several days later on his own recognizance.
He is charged with three counts of rape of a child, first-degree felonies, and one count of child sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.
