An East German family of four fled in a motorized rubber dinghy across the Baltic Sea to West Germany Friday, police said.

It was the third escape across the Baltic in four days and the 18th this year.A police spokesman said a 41-year-old electrician, his 41-year-old wife, who was a secretary, and their 19-year-old son and 18-year-old daughter landed on the West German island of Fehmarn after an 11-hour journey in a dinghy equipped with an outboard motor.
