A U.S. citizen was shot and killed Friday by an unknown assailant as he was jogging through the Honduran capital, authorities and local reports said.

A local radio station said real estate businessman Leo Mills, 61, a longtime resident of Honduras, was jogging along a highway a half mile from the city center Friday morning when the assailant, also running, shot him at close range.Police sources said they have no suspects in the shooting.

U.S. Embassy spokesman Charles Barclay confirmed Mills was killed but gave no other details.
