A woman who drove up to a store to use the phone was in satisfactory condition at St. Mark's Hospital with a fractured leg suffered when a man pushed her out of her car, ran over her leg and stole the vehicle.

Lt. Robert Gray said the woman, whose name was not released, had pulled up to the 7-Eleven, 491 E. 33rd South, about 10 p.m. Saturday to use the pay phone. A man described as a male Mexican was standing near the phones."When she walked over, he jumped out and scared her," Gray said. "That's where the scuffle ensued."

The frightened woman ran back and jumped in her car, the lieutenant said. "He ran back and jumped in the car and started threatening her. He pushed her out of the car, with her hanging on, put the car in reverse and ran over her leg."
