Cutie Pie Corp., a Salt Lake-based manufacturer of fresh and frozen turnover fruit pies, has completed a $500,000 expansion of its production plant at 443 W. 4th South.
Two major components of the expansion are a 5,000-square-foot production storage freezer and an expanded shipping/receiving area."The new freezer will increase storage capacity by more than 50 percent and frees up an additional 23 percent of existing plant, which has been previously used for freezer storage," William D. Reynolds, president, said.
A majority of the funding for the project came from Tracy Collins Bank & Trust. Intermountain Building Systems in Logan handled architectural work and project management. The general contractor was Steve Strock & Associates from Denver, Colo.
Cutie Pie is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sorority Food Corp. The plant employs 50 people. Sales of its pies, shipped throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, are projected to reach $4.5 million this year, a spokesman said.
