Because the U.S. Supreme Court has changed its standards on sexual harassment in the workplace cases, the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a seminar on the subject Nov. 14 at 9 a.m. in the Red Lion hotel.
The speaker will be Lynn J. Lund, inspector general for the Utah Department of Corrections, who has conducted several seminars on sexual harassment and developed a set of procedures and a training program so employers can avoid problems.Lund said a 1986 court decision established new standards on sexual harassment, and failure to manage complaints now can result in an award of personal liability damages against the supervisor. He said the number of claims has increased significantly and the monetary awards are staggering.
