The Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for small business of the year with the award scheduled for presentation Nov. 3 at noon in the Marriott Hotel. The nomination deadline is Oct. 24.
Fred S. Ball, chamber president, said 83 percent of the chamber members are small businesses, classified as those with less than 100 employees, and "we want to recognize the excellence of one of our small-business members."Sam Guevara of Art House Graphics, chairman of the awards committee, said his judges will look for an established small business that has creatively and imaginatively developed its products or service, been involved in chamber activities, successfully responded to challenges or adversity and demonstrated growth in employment, sales and volume.
Ball said the winner will be entered in the small business of the year competition sponsored by the Small Business Administration.
