After working around the clock, workers in Palo, Philippines, put finishing touches Tuesday on a statue of Gen. Douglas MacArthur that vandals blasted it with dynamite five days ago. World War II veterans have arrived here for a ceremony Thursday marking the day the American general led U.S. troops who liberated the Philippines from Japan. Police believe the blast was the work of communist rebels.
