Actress Joanne Woodward, who with her husband, Paul Newman, helped set up a short-lived recycling center in Westport, Conn., in the 1970s, has been named to a committee to launch another recycling program in Westport. The couple are longtime residents of the community. Woodward asked First Selectman Martha Hauhuth to put her on the committee, said Eleanor Solovay, an assistant for Hauhuth, said.
