The Young People's Theatre at the University of Utah has announced its 1988-89 season.

Plays scheduled this year are "Step on a Crack" (Nov. 16-19) and "Beauty and the Beast" (March 22-25), both to be presented at Bryant Intermediate School, 40 S. 800 East.Rehearsals are already well under way for "Step on a Crack," written by Suzan Zeder. It's about a 10-year-old girl's adjustment to he new role in the family and her anxieties about her new stepmother.

"Beauty and the Beast" will be presented as the ageless fairy tale classic tghat it is.

Both shows will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Season tickets, prices at $5, are available from the Pioneer Theatre Company box office in the Pioneer Memorial Theatre building. Call 581-7222 for reservations.

This year's touring production is "Words in Motion," which will tour area elementary schools January through May. Call 581-6356 to arrange this show. (Participating schools pay a $150 fee.)
