An airplane missing since June 13 on a flight from Burley, Idaho, to Chandler, Ariz., was found Saturday afternoon by two deer hunters from Kanosh, Millard County.
Millard County Sheriff Ed Phillips said the hunters contacted him late Saturday and then returned Sunday to the crash site with Phillips and one of his deputies. The plane was located in rough terrain about 10 miles east of Kanosh in an area accessible only by horseback.Phillips said he was able to confirm that the airplane was the one piloted by Sherman K. Flake, 53, Mesa, which disappeared shortly after landing on a road near Fillmore. The plane was refueled with automobile gasoline at a convenience store. Flake's son Scott, 19, was a passenger on the plane, which was returning from a trip to Oregon.
Phillips said the airplane apparently burst into flame on impact.
