Riley said two police officers, summoned on a "keep the peace" call, arrived just before the shooting occurred. Julie Peppmuller and Ellis had arrived at the house to change locks and secure a semitrailer tractor that they had driven onto the property, said Riley. Gary Peppmuller confronted the pair, and a brief argument ensued.
