The Hobble Creek Canyon fire is under control, and all but 15 of the original 100 firefighters have been released from duty, a Uinta National Forest spokeswoman said Thursday.

"The Flame-n-Goes crew will stay and do mop up - make sure everything is out - but the Uinta crew was released Thursday, and the Ashley and Targhee National Forest crews will go home Friday," said spokeswoman Loyal Clark.Clark said the fire had consumed 170 acres of brush - 20 more than had been estimated earlier. There were no injuries from the fire, and no structures were damaged.

Cool temperatures and the lack of wind helped limit the fire's growth, she said.

The fire began Tuesday afternoon when a bullet pierced a power line. Authorities are not sure if the shot was fired by a hunter or a vandal.
