A Sandy man who attacked a Salt Lake woman in her home in July was sent Friday to Utah State Prison.

Third District Judge Homer Wilkinson ordered Jeffrey Dean Baker, 29, to serve up to five years for aggravated assault and up to 15 years for burglary. In a plea bargain last month, Baker admitted he broke into the woman's home, near 600 E. Downington Ave., on July 5. When the woman resisted, the masked Baker, who was crouching by her bed, attacked her with a knife, severing a tendon in her right hand.

With the help of neighbors, police apprehended Baker a few blocks away. He was in possession of the victim's purse, which had been stolen during the incident.
