Unbeaten Julio Caesar Chavez of Mexico won a technical decision over countryman Jose Luis Ramirez Saturday night to become the first person in 10 years to hold more than one portion of the lightweight title.
The two butted heads 50 seconds into the 11th round, and blood flowed furiously from a deep gash in Ramirez's forehead. After referee Richard Steele deducted a point from Chavez for the accidental butt, ring doctor Flip Homansky stopped the bout with Chavez ahead.
