A huge fire that raged for a week at an oil refinery outside Singapore was extinguished Monday after causing an estimated $5 million damage, fire officials said.
The fire fanned by strong winds spread to four Singapore Refining Co. tanks, each containing naptha, a colorless distillate of crude oil used in paint thinner and solvents."The last flicker of flame was doused at 7 a.m. today. Now the tedious task is to put those tanks back in order," said a firefighter.
