Two former German prisoners of war will be in Utah Nov. 9 to tour the place they were interred as prisoners during World War II.

Karl Altkruger and Herbert Barkoff were wounded the night of July 8, 1945, when an American guard opened fire using a machine gun on sleeping prisoners at the prison camp near Salina. Nine prisoners died and 19 others were wounded. The former POWs will also re-dedicate a restored monument to the prisoners at Fort Douglas.
