Maj. Gen. James W. Hopp has been named to succeed Maj. Gen. Robert P. McCoy as commander of Ogden Air Logistics Center effective Nov. 15.
McCoy, a lieutenant general nominee, will receive his third star on that date and become Air Force Logistics Command vice commander, replacing Lt. Gen. Charles McCausland. McCoy became commander of Ogden ALC in March 1987.McCausland, who was commander of Ogden ALC from September 1984 to March 1987, will head the Defense Logistics Agency, Washington, D.C.
Hopp is presently deputy chief of staff for communication-computer systems at Air Force Logistics Command headquarters at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He also commands the Logistics Management Systems Center at Wright-Patterson.
A Dallas native, Hopp entered the Air Force in 1963. He has held several supply and logistics positions during his career and has served in several positions within Air Force Logistics Command, including chief of the bomber and cargo aircraft branch, office of the deputy chief of staff for logistics operations, Wright-Patterson; executive to the commander; director of command initiatives, office of the deputy chief of staff for plans and programs; assistant deputy chief of staff for plans and programs; and vice commander of Sacramento ALC, McClellan Air Force Base, Calif.
