Contractors working at a condominium development on 54th South between 13th and 14th West broke a 2-inch natural gas line Friday morning that caused concern at a nearby elementary school.
The smell of the gas drifted to nearby Plymouth Elementary School, 5220 S. 1470 West, but Mountain Fuel Supply crews shut the the damaged line off before school officials evacuated children from the building.Mountain Fuel spokesman Kurt Burnett said a contractor was installing a sprinkler system at 1430 Harbor Point Drive and broke the gas line. Gas service in the area was not interrupted by the mishap, he said.
