Dr. Milton E. Wadsworth, dean of the College of Mines and Earth Sciences at the University of Utah, has been elected to the highest ranking position in the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers.
Wadsworth has been chosen president-elect designate of the AIME. His term will begin in February and run for four years. He will serve as president-elect in 1990, president in 1991 and past president in 1992.
A fellow of The Metallurgical Society and the American Society for Metals International, Wadsworth has received the James Gold Medal and the Minerals Industry Education Award, both presented by the AIME.
A university faculty member since 1948, Wadsworth has received both the University's Distinguished Teaching Award and Distinguished Research Award. He was the college's associate dean for eight years, before becoming dean in 1983, and was chairman of the department of metallurgy and metallurgical engineering from 1955 to 1966 and from 1970 to 1976.
