The Jewish Federation of Las Vegas is considering calling for a boycott of the Imperial Palace Hotel-Casino despite owner Ralph Engelstad's public apology for staging Adolf Hitler birthday parties, a member of the group said.
Engelstad, 58, became the target of scrutiny when state gaming agents inspected a room at his Las Vegas Strip hotel last week and found it filled with Nazi-era cars and Third Reich memorabilia.The gaming agents said employees told them Engelstad held two parties commemorating Hitler's birthday and that some workers were pressured into attending.
Attorney Greg Kamer, a member of the Jewish Federation, said a subcommittee of the group's community relations committee reviewed television tapes from Engelstad's Thursday news conference and found the hotel's owner's on-the-air apology to be "wholly inadequate and lacking in sensitivity.
