The Jewish Federation of Las Vegas is considering calling for a boycott of the Imperial Palace Hotel-Casino despite owner Ralph Engelstad's public apology for staging Adolf Hitler birthday parties, a member of the group said.

Engelstad, 58, became the target of scrutiny when state gaming agents inspected a room at his Las Vegas Strip hotel last week and found it filled with Nazi-era cars and Third Reich memorabilia. The gaming agents said employees told them Engelstad held two parties commemorating Hitler's birthday and that some workers were pressured into attending.

Attorney Greg Kamer, a member of the Jewish Federation, said a subcommittee of the group's community relations committee reviewed television tapes from Engelstad's Thursday news conference and found the hotel's owner's on-the-air apology to be "wholly inadequate and lacking in sensitivity.
