Although he is 86 years old and has 22 years of service as a counselor for the Salt Lake Chapter of the Service Corps of Retired Executives, Clarence Shupe intends to keep on counseling for a long time.
Shupe, who owned Shupe Engineering Co., which at one time had 40 employees and contracts up to $52 million for projects in the western United States, was honored by the chapter Friday.People helping people is what SCORE is all about, Shupe said. "As I see it, you may as well get advice from someone who's been through it and avoid making some costly mistakes," he said.
In addition to honoring Shupe during the meeting in the Tri Arc, chapter members installed their officers for the next 12 months. They are Todd Y. Purcell, chairman; Richard T. Fleisch, vice chairman; Claude Middleton, treasurer; and Norman Fitzgerald and Gene Leveton, honorary executive committee members.
