Juab School District board members have learned it will cost approximately $50,000 to remove asbestos from district buildings.

James K. Libberton, JKL Asbestos Inc., said all preliminary inspections have been completed and the greatest concern is about some heating pipe coverings running in a tunnel underground at the Nephi Elementary and some pipe covering in the auditorium area at the school. One wall behind the stage there also has has a small amount of asbestos. In Mona Elementary there is no friable asbestos but the floor tile may contain the substance. Both the middle school and the high school may have some floor tile which contains asbestos.

Libberton said Juab District is fortunate to have a relatively small amount of the substance. Board members agreed, and voted to request a deferral of management plan filing until March 1, 1989.
