The Houston Rockets today waived centers Ron Cavenall and Steve Hayes, leaving one more roster cut before the Friday regular-season opener at Denver, team officials said.

Hayes, a 7-footer who resides in Utah, averaged 2.8 points and 1.5 rebounds per preseason game. The five-year pro who last played with Utah in the 1985-86 season has also played at San Antonio, Detroit, Cleveland and Seattle.
