Fishermen rescued all 21 crewmen of a ship carrying a load of logs that sunk earlier this week off the northwest coast of the Philippines. The Philippine coast guard said the Panama-registered vessel Maria Pilar was battered by strong waves for hours before it sank Sunday off Cabugao in northern Ilocos Sur province, 220 miles north of Manila. Fishermen, alerted by emergency flares, rescued all 21 crewmen from the vessel, which was on its way to South Korea from Malaysia.
