Officers and board of directors for Days of '47 Inc., were announced this week following elections at the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Memorial Museum.
Executive officers for the coming year are Floyd "Flip" Harmon, president; Eileen R. Dunyon, 1st vice president; Eugene Jelesnik, 2nd vice president; Glen A. Lloyd, 3rd vice president; Jerry Dunyon, 4th vice president; Norma Jones, 5th vice president; Virginia Boogert, 6th vice president; Emma R. Olsen, secretary; and Frank T. Hales, treasurer.Members of the board are Ruth Cutler, Louise C. Green, Claire N. Morris, Jack Pferdner, Phillip Robbins, Elva K. Smith, Joel Smith, Betty Sorensen, Lynne Turner, Joe Venus, JaNeanne Webster and Keith D. West.
The organization sponsors the annual celebration to commemorate the entrance of the pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley on July 24, 1847.
Among the activities is the annual rodeo, which will mark its 20th year in the Salt Palace in 1989, Harmon said. It has become one of the nation's leading events of its type, he said.
