West Valley assistant prosecutor Dean Ellis was rescued early Tuesday after becoming trapped in Corner Canyon.

Salt Lake County Deputy Sheriff Thad Moore said Ellis, 29, was deer hunting Monday in the Bear Trap Gulch area in the Lone Peak Wilderness area and had become stranded on a cliff area at dusk."He did the smart thing," said Moore. "He stayed put, built a fire and started signaling with his flashlight."

Rescuers, with the help of a medical helicopter, located Ellis and had him off the mountain by 3 a.m.
