American teenagers may talk a good diet but they don't eat one, according to a survey revealed by the Nutri-System Health & Fitness Information Bureau.

Some of the Gallup Organization survey findings:- While 87 percent of teens say they make an effort to eat nutritious food, their top choices to relieve hunger are chips, cookies, candy and ice cream.

- While 94 percent recognize the importance of diet in controlling cholesterol, only 47 percent say they try to avoid high-cholesterol foods.

- And 79 percent list hamburgers, cheeseburgers, luncheon meats and pizza as top lunch choices.
