Dr. Ake Hjalmarson, medical professor at the University of Goteborg, Sweden, presented evidence from two studies Thursday to a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel that a widely used blood pressure drug, Metoprolol, might also reduce sudden deaths among some heart attack patients by as much as half.
