The First Presidency has announced a new area, the Utah Central Area, created Nov. 1 from the Utah North and the Utah South areas.

Elder J. Thomas Fyans of the First Quorum of the Seventy has been called to preside over the new area. Elder Fyans previously served as president of the Utah North area. His counselors are Elders Albert Choules Jr. and Monte J. Brough, also of the First Quorum of the Seventy.The Utah Central Area is comprised of Salt Lake County, Summit County and Tooele County in Utah.

The Utah Central Area has 139 stakes and 24 regions. The Utah North Area retains 120 stakes and 27 regions; the Utah South Area now has 138 stakes and 24 regions.

Changes were also made in other area presidencies.

Elder William R. Bradford of the First Quorum of the Seventy will be the new president of the Utah North Area. Elders Victor L. Brown and Gerald E. Melchin, also of the First Quorum of the Seventy, will serve as his counselors.

As president of the North America Southeast Area, Elder Rex D. Pinegar will be serving with two new counselors, Elder Spencer H. Osborn, who previously served as first counselor in the United King-dom/Ireland/Africa Area, and Elder Lloyd P. George. All three are members of the First Quorum of the Seventy.

Elder Robert E. Sackley was called to serve as a counselor in the United King-dom/Ireland/Africa Area. He is a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.
