Nearly a dozen parking meters in downtown Salt Lake were damaged and an undetermined amount of money taken, according to police reports.

Nine parking meters between North Temple and Third South and State Street to Third South apparently were vandalized this week. A routine inspection Tuesday found that the meters were pried open with a screwdriver, reports said.Replacement costs for the meters are $20 each.
