Mothers Against Drunk Driving and 7-Eleven Stores urge Utahns to "tie one on" - a red ribbon that is - in a campaign for safety against drunken driving.

As part of a monthlong national effort aimed against drinking and driving, a 250-foot-long red ribbon will be tied around a 7-Eleven Store, 21st S. State, at 11 a.m. Thursday.Mothers Against Drunk Driving, known as MADD, and 7-Eleven stores, a division of Southland Corp., ask drivers to tie a red ribbon on their vehicle's antenna, outside rear view mirror or door handle to show support for the safety effort.

In Project Red Ribbon, each of 7-Eleven's 164 Utah stores will distribute 500 ribbons from Dec. 1 through Jan. 3.

Culminating the ribbon distribution, 7-Eleven stores will provide free coffee to customers between 7 p.m. New Year's Eve through 11 a.m. New Year's Day.
