Eight years after the murder of John Lennon, the younger brother of Paul McCartney is hoping his exhibit of silkscreens and early Beatles' photographs will help uphold the fallen Beatle's good name.
Michael McCartney, 44, a photographer and writer of children's books who lives in his native Liverpool, opened the exhibit Thursday in Palm Beach, Fla., on the eighth anniversary of Lennon's death in New York City."There are few people in this world who I've been proud to meet, and Lennon is one of them . . . a lovely, charming man," McCartney said. "All you go on is what people are. You should never listen to stories secondhand."
The exhibit includes photographs taken by a camera Paul McCartney bought for his brother while performing in Hamburg, West Germany, long before the Beatles became superstars.
