Doctors pronounced President Reagan cancer-free and in excellent health Saturday after laboratory tests on a polyp removed from his colon, the White House reported.

"No further examinations or tests are required. The president is in excellent health," said the statement issued by presidential spokesman Marlin Fitzwater. The 77-year-old president was spending the weekend resting at his mountain retreat at Camp David, Md., with his wife, Nancy. He was informed of the final results by his physician, Col. John Hutton.

"The tissue removed Friday afternoon from President Reagan's colon for biopsy is benign," the statement said.

The president and Mrs. Reagan traveled to Bethesda Naval Medical Center in Maryland for their annual physical examinations Friday.

Mrs. Reagan, 67, was told Friday that her second breast X-ray since that surgery revealed "no evidence of cancer of any kind."
