Legislators voted Monday in presidential elections expected to confirm veteran politician Ghulam Ishaq Khan in the office he assumed on the death of President Mo-hammad Zia ul-Haq four months ago.

Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto later was to face a vote of confidence in the National Assembly. Bhutto was nominated Dec. 1 by Ishaq Khan as the first woman leader of a modern Moslem country and Pakistan's youngest head of government.Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party won the largest bloc of National Assembly seats in the Nov. 16 elections, the first democratic polls in the country in 11 years. But she failed to gain an absolute majority and must rely on smaller parties and independents for support.
