A 26-year-old woman who was accidently shot in the head by her 6-year-old daughter Saturday remained in critical condition Monday at the LDS Hospital.

Lori Lucero, 3067 Baty Drive, was asleep on a couch at her sister's apartment at 11 a.m. when her daughter came into the room with a .22 caliber handgun, pointed the gun at her sleeping mother and pulled the trigger. The child's cousin and aunt saw the girl bring the gun into the room but assumed it was a toy, according to a Salt Lake Police report.

The child later told police she, too, thought she was playing with a toy gun. She found the gun on the floor of a bedroom in her aunt's apartment.
