Movie tough guy Sylvester Stallone and sultry screen actress Faye Dunaway were chosen to represent the spirit of legendary silent film star Rudolph Valentino at the 1988 Rudy Awards.

Stallone, who starred in the "Rocky" and "Rambo" action film series, and Dunaway, who won an Academy Award for best actress in "Network," received statuette images of "The Sheik."Celebrities such as Shirley MacLaine, Rita Moreno, Gary Collins and Stallone's mother, Jacqueline, attended the 17th annual presentation of the awards in Los Angeles Sunday night.

Italian vintner Carlo Apollonio created the awards in 1972 honoring career achievement in memory of the late Italian-born silent-film actor.
