The Davis County Commission this week awarded a $26,900 contract to an engineering firm to determine what street improvements need to be done to service the county's new jail and court complex.
The contract was awarded to the firm of Creamer and Noble, Inc., and Commissioner Harold Tippets said 90 percent of the money will come from federal funds. The contract calls for a report on improvements needed on State Street in Farmington from Second West, the main access from I-15 into Farmington, west to 650 West, then west along Clark Lane to 1525 West.
Tippetts said the county earlier this year had the route designated for federal secondary highway funds and improvements will be paid with mostly federal money.
Improvements could be expensive because the route includes an overpass where State Street crossed I-15, and Farmington City is asking for a pedestrian walkway to be added to the structure.
