More than 200 children throughout the Salt Lake area will discover Christmas morning that Santa Claus must have overlooked them this year.
Unless more donors respond to the Deseret News Santa's Helping Hand program, these children will not experience the joy of Christmas as neighbor children show off their new toys and clothes. The children, 117 boys and 111 girls ranging in age from 3 to 14, are part of the 76 needy families not assigned to donor groups.
Although hundreds of other families have been matched with donors, these families still need help, according to program officials. And, frankly, officials are concerned as the days go by.
If donor families, companies, civic groups or churches do not answer the plea, the children will not share in the excitement of Christmas. Those who can accept a family to help should call the Deseret News Santa's Helping Hand program at 237-2139.
