Bad weather was blamed for two accidents that killed three Utahns, authorities say.
William Beaumont, 77, Tooele.Richard Adamson, 48, West Valley City.
Gordon Adamson, 55, Salt Lake City.
Beaumont died in the University Hospital in Salt Lake City at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday from injuries suffered in a head-on collision on U-36 near Lake Point, Tooele County, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
Carl A. Timmerman Jr., 31, Kearns, suffered a fractured right femur and head injuries. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was in serious but stable condition Thursday.
Beaumont's vehicle was southbound at Lake Point at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday when it drifted across the highway center line into the path of Timmerman's vehicle, the Highway Patrol said.
Richard Adamson and Gordon Adamson died in a three-vehicle Wyoming pileup at the west end of the Green River tunnel on I-80, the Wyoming Highway Patrol said.
Robert Ryan, 49, of Kenosha, Wis., lost control of his semitrailer-truck as it traveled on a slick section of westbound I-80, investigators said. The rig jackknifed into the eastbound lanes, and the car driven by Richard Adamson passed under the truck.
The truck rolled on top of the car and struck a third vehicle, pushing it into a guardrail. Occupants of that vehicle were treated for injuries suffered in the 11:15 a.m. Wednesday accident and later released, troopers said.
