Evan Lake has been named the new program director for KMGR (FM-107.5, alias "Magic 107.")
According to the station's general manager Dean Lindsay, Lake will continue to do his on-air show from 2 to 6 p.m. daily.Lindsay also announced that Mike Carver will be the new disc jockey from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Carver previously worked for KCPX and KUTR.
Carver will host the "Lunchtime with the Oldies" request program from noon until 1 p.m. each weekday.
KMGR's slogan is "Utah's Easy-Going Favorites." Mark Van Wagoner, formerly of KSL, will be its morning personality from 6 until 10 a.m.
- "Fantasy Football Game" is KMGR's latest contest. Listeners can call in and try to identify the 11 mystery celebrity football players from clues provided.
The first one to identify the 11 players, in order, wins a 41-inch big-screen television from Pete Vrontikis & Son and a catered Super Bowl party for 20 people.
-KUER (FM-90) The Utah Symphony's Christmas concert will air Dec. 18 at 1 p.m.
"Music for the Winter Solstice" will be broadcast Dec. 21 at 9 a.m. and "All Things Considered" will be broadcast Dec. 23 at 4 p.m. The show will feature its second annual Christmas Pageant.
-KSL (AM-1160) Former Utah Stars and Jazz guard Ron Boone will be Chris Tunis' guest tonight on "Sportscentral" at 6:30 p.m.
The Washington Redskins vs. Cincinnati Bengals game airs Dec. 17at 10:15 a.m., followed by the New England and Denver NFL game at 1:50 p.m. The Utah State at BYU basketball game will be broadcast at 7 p.m. Dec. 17.
-KBYU (FM-89.1) will broadcast the Texaco/Metropolitan Opera's version of Georges Bizet's "Carmen" live Dec. 17 at 11:30 a.m.
