Michael Hudson was born a cocaine addict last month, and Seminole County prosecutors have accused his mother of being his drug dealer.

In a first-of-its-kind case, Seminole County sheriff's detectives charged Toni Suzette Hudson on Thursday with delivery of cocaine to her unborn son and locked her behind bars.Prosecutors plan to make Hudson's a test case. No mother who took drugs during pregnancy and gave birth to a "cocaine baby" ever has been charged in Florida with delivering drugs to her child.

Hudson, 29, also was charged with child abuse. The infant had syphilis as well as a cocaine addiction when born Nov. 13.

"If this isn't child abuse, nothing is," Jeff Deen, Seminole-Brevard assistant state attorney, said Thursday.
