Sentencing of a former Boy Scout leader who pleaded guilty last month to child sexual abuse has been postponed until Jan. 20 so available sexual offenders' programs can be considered as possible treatment.
Allen Washburn, 35, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony, as part of a plea agreement in exchange for the dismissal of a second count of the same charge.Washburn, Orem, also faces two counts of forcible sexual abuse of a child in Spanish Fork 4th Circuit Court. All the charges stem from incidents last Aug. 1 involving two boys, 15 and 16, at Camp Maple Dell in Payson Canyon.
The defendant served five years as a district executive for the Utah National Parks Council of the Boy Scouts of America before resigning Aug. 3.
