California Highway Patrol officers help a motorist turn around on Highway 101 on the north side of Cuesta Grade. The grade, which divides San Luis Obispo County, was closed for 20 hours, stranding commuters overnight. Southern California endured its second day of snow, rain and high winds Friday, and Cape Hatteras, N.C., got some rare snow while the nation's midsection had mostly sunny, clear weather. In addition to coastal North Carolina, parts of northeastern South Carolina also got some snow and sleet. In Southern California a winter storm warning was extended for the San Bernardino mountains northward.
