The Utah Arts Council board of directors has awarded 54 grants totaling $63,166, for 1989 projects in the categories of community arts development, challenge, and technical assistance. The grants are a mix of state and federal funds.
Applications for this sort of grant are due by Sept. 1 annually, and awards not exceeding $3,000 each are made in early December. A later deadline, Oct. 1, applies to more established organizations seeking general support, with awards announced in April. Last April the council awarded $863,494 to 101 organizations, for a total 1988-89 grants allocation of $926,660.Council grants must be matched dollar-for-dollar by cash from other sources, and many other restrictions apply.
